Lala Salama is Swahili for 'sleep safely'. We are a vibrant foundation that focuses on education for children in South Kenya, as going to school is not evident for them. Our porridge programs and agricultural projects ensure that these kids continue to attend school and can realize their dreams in the future!

The approach of Lala Salama

It’s our goal to bring and keep as many children as possible in school. We do this by offering them food, through temporary porridge programs and sustainable agricultural projects. We focus on:

Shared responsibility together with the local schools and communities we work with..

Self-reliance to ensure our impact is sustainable and future-proof.

Greatest possible impact with limited resources. We understand where action is most needed because we know the communities so well.

Who we are

We are Marie and Claartje and in 2013 we founded Lala Salama, Swahili for 'sleep safely'. What started with just one project for a children's home in the south of Kenya, has grown into a fully-fledged foundation that makes a real difference in the entire region through education. We describe our way of working as positive, ambitious and distinctive.
